I am a teacher Your role on the ELT platform is to register your students, assign tasks
and tests to students, monitor students' progress, use statistics to measure students'
attainment and progress and communicate with students.

How do I join the ELT platform?

- Your supervisor has registered you on the ELT platform using your email address.

- You will receive an email from us with an activation link.

- Click on the activation link.

- You are redirected to a user registration page.

- If your details on the registration page are not correct, please contact your supervisor.

- Create your own password and then click on the register button.

If you cannot find our email, please check your spam email or junk folders in your email account.

How do I log in to the ELT platform?

Remember that in order to log in you have to have registered first. Find out how here: How do I join the ELT platform?

- On the homepage (www.eltplatform.com) enter your username and your password. Your username is the email address you have registered with.

How do I register my students with the system?

- Click on the manage classes tab.

- There are two ways to register your students with the system.

Case A: for students with an email account

Case B: for students without an email account

NOTE:

Once you have selected one of the two cases for a coursebook, you cannot undo it.

Case A: for students with an email account.

- Click on the class you are interested in (Class A, B, etc.).

- A class password will appear which should be given to all students in your class.

- Ask your students to visit www.eltplatform.com, click on the activate button (for students) and insert the password they have been given in order to create an account.

- Choose Case A only if all the students in a class have an email account.

Case B: for students without an email account

- Click on the class you are interested in (Class A, B, etc.).

- A student registration form will appear on the screen.

- Insert your students' details. When you have finished, click on the Generate Accounts button at the bottom of the form.

- The system generates a username and password for each student.

- Click on the print button to print out the individual usernames and passwords and hand them out to the students.

- Ask your students to visit www.eltplatform.com, click on the activate button (for students) and insert their username and password in the username and password fields.

How do I see my students' progress reports?

- Click on the progress reports button at the top right-hand corner of your screen.

- Select a book and a class from the drop-down boxes.

- Click on the class statistics button at the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.

- Choose the graph you would like to review.

How do progress reports work?

Statistical information is displayed in two categories, student statistics and class statistics.

A. student statistics area

The tool bar

- Locate the tool bar at the top of the statistics dashboard.

- Select the time period drop-down button in order to explore statistical data within the specific period you are interested in.

- Select the student management drop-down button in order to sort your students according to alphabetical or performance order.

Main dashboard area

• General symbols

- The average score symbol indicates the total score your students have achieved on the tasks.

- The clock symbol indicates the time your students have spent actively practising online.

- The excellent /green square symbol indicates the percentage of tasks that have been submitted and graded at 75%-100%.

- The good/yellow square symbol indicates the percentage of tasks that have been submitted and graded at 51% - 74%.

- The weak/orange square symbol indicates the percentage of tasks that have been submitted and graded at 0%-50%.

• Each student's performance

The first menu allows you to:

- use the make a recommendation button to send a message to your student

- click on the download report button to download and print out a student's progress report.

The Practice performance area shows:

- the student's activity within the time period you have selected

- the total number of tasks the student has submitted

- the number of tasks that have been graded as excellent (between 75%-100%), good (between 51% - 74%) and weak (between 0%-50%)

The Task performance area shows:

- the student's performance in each task category

- the number of tasks the student has submitted in each task category

- the number of tasks that have been graded as excellent (75%-100%), good (51% - 74%) and weak (0%-50%) in each task category

- the student's average score in each task category

- the time the student has spent actively practising

- the total number of attempts the student has made

The Module performance area shows:

- the student's performance in each task category per module/unit

- the student's number of attempts in each task category

- the time the student has spent practising

The Test performance area shows:

- the student's performance in each test per module/unit

- the number of correct answers the student has in each test

- the time the student has spent practising

NOTE:

Time is calculated very conservatively and includes the time students have spent actively practising content, including both audiovisual material and tasks. After two minutes of inactivity, a student is no longer considered to be actively practising.

B. class statistics area

Column chart

This graph shows the average score of all the students in each task category within the time period you have selected.

Why is it useful?

- You have an overall picture of class attainment and progress.

- You identify task categories which need more practice.

- You can compare the performance of different classes.

In order to see how different classes compare:

- Select a book and a class from the drop-down boxes.

- Click on the class statistics button at the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.

- Choose the column chart.

- Print out the graph for your class.

- Repeat the process for as many classes as you want to compare.

Pie chart

This graph shows how much time all the students in each class have spent practising each task.

Why is it useful?

- You see which task category students in a class have devoted more time to.

- You refer to the histogram which shows how the class has coped with each task and you draw conclusions about whether the time spent practising could be a reason for good or bad performance.

- You compare how much time different classes have spent online, in order to identify any differences in performance related to time spent practising.

In order to see how different classes compare:

- Select a book and a class from the drop-down boxes.

- Click on the class statistics button at the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.

- Choose the pie chart.

- Print out the graph for your class.

- Repeat the process for as many classes as you want to compare.

NOTE:

• We suggest you to use this graph as a general benchmark. Time calculation shows the total time students have spent online actively practising each task category.

• Time is calculated very conservatively and includes the time students have spent actively practising content. After two minutes of inactivity, a student is no longer considered to be actively practising.

Histogram

This graph allows you to see how many students in a class need more practice, have demonstrated good understanding, or have demonstrated excellent understanding.

Why is it useful?

- You see class achievement organised into groups of performance distinguished by colour.

- You compare classes to identify whether data matches or differentiates, in order to draw further conclusions.

In order to see how different classes compare:

- Select a book and a class from the drop-down boxes.

- Click on the class button at the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.

- Choose the histogram.

- Print out the graph for your class.

- Repeat the process for as many classes as you want to compare.

How do I send messages to each student or to the whole class?

- Click on the messages button on your screen.

- Select a book and a class from the drop-down boxes.

A. messages to students

- Click on the messages to students button on your screen to send messages to a specific student.

- Select the student from the drop-down box.

- Click on the new message button, type your message and then click on the submit button.

- Click on the recent messages button on your screen to see the most recent messages you have sent to each student.

- Click on the all messages button to see all the messages you have sent to each student personally.

B. messages to class

- Click on the messages to class button on your screen if you want to send messages to the whole class.

- Click on the new message button, type your message and then click on the submit button.

- Click on the recent messages button on your screen to see the most recent messages you have sent to the whole class.

- Click on the all messages button to see all the messages you have sent to the class.
